I’m Steve Lodge, your Liberal Democrat councillor for Tiverton West on Devon County Council.

I’ve lived and worked in Devon for many years, running my own business for nearly 25 years. I know what it means to build something from the ground up – and I bring that same commitment to serving our community.

As a dad who home educates two autistic children, I understand the challenges families face when systems don’t work as they should. It’s one of the reasons I got into politics: to fight for people who feel overlooked and to make sure every voice is heard.

My priorities

Listening first

Good representation starts with listening. I’m committed to hearing what matters to residents across Tiverton West –whether that’s on the doorstep, by email, or at community meetings.

Fighting for local services

Devon County Council makes decisions that affect our roads, schools, social care and public transport. I work to ensure Tiverton West gets its fair share of investment and attention.

Building community

Strong communities don’t happen by accident. I want to bring people together, support local initiatives, and make sure our area thrives.

Transparency and accountability

You deserve a councillor who is honest about what’s possible and who keeps you informed. I believe in open communication and standing up for what’s right – even when it’s difficult.

Get in touch

I’m here to represent you. If you have a concern, an idea, or just want to talk about what’s happening in Tiverton West, please get in touch.

Why I do this

Politics should be about people, not point-scoring. I believe in a fairer, greener, more open society – and I believe that change starts locally.

Whether it’s fixing a pothole, fighting for better school funding, or making sure vulnerable residents get the support they need, I’m here to work hard for Tiverton West.

Thank you for your trust. I won’t let you down.

My role as your County Councillor

  • Putting our community first

Our community deserves better. Whether it’s fighting to fix our roads, for improved SEND provision, better post-16 education opportunities, enhancing rural transport links, eliminating waste, or protecting vital public services from under-funding and loss, my focus is on delivering meaningful change for our community.

Steve’s proven track record of delivery

Steve is working closely with our MP to represent our market town, rural communities and local businesses in Parliament. With a background in finance, Steve is looking to cut the waste and year-on-year losses in Devon County Council and balance the books whilst investing in more efficient and better delivered services

  • Protecting our treasured local services

Devon is strapped for cash and still suffering from the failures of the previous  Conservative-led council, raiding local services to fill their financial black hole. Already the Lib Dems have balanced the books and I am campaigning with Tiverton’s Liberal Democrat MP Rachel Gilmour to replace Tiverton High School’s crumbling buildings with a new modern campus. I am determined that Devon must look wider than just Exeter for economic growth.

Take my local survey

I know many residents are concerned about a range of issues in our region – from the backlog of unfilled potholes to the overspend and underdelivery on children’s services. That’s why I’m asking for your views today. Please complete my survey – it will take only 2 minutes.
